Broad  Prospects  for Cruise Ship Manufacturing

With the improvement of people’s living standards, more and more people go out to travel, cruise ship will be a star product with broad prospects. Cruise ship manufacturing has also sprung up.

Aluminum Is an Important Material for Cruise Vessel Producing

Aluminum is an excellent choice for both the superstructure and other structural elements of cruise ships. These superstructures and facilities include components such as guardrails, partition walls, anti-skid flooring, ladders, furniture, living necessities, kitchen appliances, and fire doors.

One of the major advantages of using aluminum alloys for these upper facilities is the weight reduction: aluminum structures and components are about 40% to 45% lighter than their steel counterparts, while maintaining the same performance. Additionally, aluminum is clean, hygienic, and visually appealing with its bright color, requiring no maintenance throughout its service life. In contrast, steel structures need significant upkeep every three to five years to prevent rusting, which can not only look unsightly but also lead to minor accidents or unwanted issues.

Another important feature of aluminum is its behavior in fire. While it isn’t a fireproof material, aluminum can help in fire prevention due to its ability to absorb a large amount of heat during a fire. It melts quietly without causing further spread of flames, unlike magnesium, which can ignite in a dangerous, intense burst of flames when exposed to fire. This makes magnesium unsuitable for cruise ship superstructures and facilities.

Furthermore, aluminum structures are highly recyclable, with only about 5% mechanical loss during the process. Remarkably, the recycling value of aluminum scrap is about 80% of the price of new aluminum ingots. Its resistance to both freshwater and seawater makes aluminum naturally corrosion-resistant, ideal for shipbuilding. Finally, aluminum’s reasonable and competitive price adds to its appeal as a superior material for cruise ship manufacturing.
