Global alumina production in May was 11.728 million tons, up 3.09% month-on-month and down 3.08% year-on-year
According to the International Aluminum Association, global alumina production in May reached 11.728 million tons (metallurgical grade alumina 10.983 million tons), a month-on-month increase of 3.09 percent. Global alumina production stood at 11.376 million tons in April compared with 11.373 million tons in March.
Year-on-year, alumina production in May fell 3.08 percent from a year earlier to 12.101 million tons.
In the first five months, global alumina production totaled 56.222 million tons, down 2.47% year-on-year from 57.647 million tons in the same period last year.
.In May, the average daily output of global alumina was 378,300 tons, compared with 379,200 tons in April, down 0.24%; In the same period last year, the average daily output was 390,400 tons, down 3.09 percent year-on-year.
China was the largest alumina producer in May, producing 6.6 million tons, up 3.29 percent from 6.39 million tons in April. The year-on-year growth was 0.61 percent, compared with 6.56 million tons in the same period last year.
In the first five months, China’s alumina production totaled 30.79 million tons, down 1.35 percent from 31.21 million tons in the same period last year.
