China’s daily primary aluminum output rose to its highest since mid-2021 in January-February
China’s daily primary aluminum output in January and February rose to its highest level since mid-2021, data from the National Bureau of Statistics showed on Tuesday, as smelters farther away from Beijing stayed open despite pollution curbs during the heating season and the Winter Olympics.
China is the world’s largest aluminum producer, with primary aluminum (electrolytic aluminum) output of 6.33 million tons in January-February, down from 6.45 million tons in 2021, data showed. The year-on-year decline was 1.4 per cent. Less than the same period last year.
According to calculations, the average daily output in January-February was 107,288 tons, reaching the high daily average level since June 2021. It is reported that the electrolytic aluminum supply end in February resumed production and new production capacity put into operation to speed up, the subsequent supply is expected to further rise.
