nalco expects alumina prices to remain firm in the coming days
NALCO, the national aluminium company, said on Monday it expected alumina prices to remain firm in the coming days.
“Our new shipping price for zui is us $580.5 per ton, which is us $50.5 per ton higher than the price on August 1, 2018,” TK Chand, chairman and general manager of the company, said in an interview with cnbc-tv 18.
The price of alumina rose by about 10 per cent in 15 days.
“
“The increase in alumina prices is mainly due to higher bauxite prices in China and stricter environmental protection in China’s aluminum smelters,” Chand said.
At the same time, there is cost support, because caustic soda prices are also climbing.
These two factors are driving up prices
