The U.S. international trade commission has launched an investigation into the U.S. aluminum industry and global aluminum trade

The U.S. international trade commission (USITC) said Wednesday it has launched an investigation into the U.S. aluminum industry and global aluminum trade.
The investigation, the first formal action by the U.S. international trade commission, will examine the impact of century aluminum’s ongoing battle on domestic smelters.
Century aluminum is controlled by glencore.
The itc said it would report on competitive factors in major unwrought and wrought aluminum producers and exporters, including the United States.
“There will be investigations into industry characteristics, recent trade trends and developments, competitive advantages and disadvantages, factors driving the increase in unwrought aluminium capacity and government policies affecting aluminium production and exports in these countries,” the commission said.
